I wouldn't trust much from the Whirled Nuts Doily.
Pre-Jan 1 2000 they ran no fewer than 220 Y2K articles, most of which were highly alarmist and talking about things like changes in communication systems for the national guard being a preindicator of the declaration of marshal law by Clinton. (Didn't happen now did it?)
Many of which were accompanied by banner advertising for WND's own big-bux Y2K survival kit and videos. (note to self: don't procrastinate, watch videos before the apocalpyse)
