As long as he and you had a good time that's all that really matters. Sounds to me like the people who didn't show up were the losers. If I weren't so far away, I'd have been very happy to come for a yummy and fun evening like yours.
Of course I wasn't invited, but well, I guess there's nothing wrong with a little bit of gate crashing every now and then is there? lol
