I had the memorial on in the background.
Shocking.
20 mins of live TV completely silent, except for journos inteviewing eachother.
I was a PA. I'd have been ashamed of that.
I lasted until some bloke I didn't know was speaking about Michael as a student. Not long into it in action terms, but too much time already chronologically. I wish they'd captioned people - I loved the performance of Maya Angelou's poem (Queen Latifah? Maybe?) despite the God refs - she read it well.
Saw Beyonce on the news (news!) singing Halo to MJ.
I didn't even know she sang that - thought it was Rihanna.
I forget (often) how many Americans are Christian. Or at least how many pay lip-service to it with no actual form of self denial or worship - something I was brought up to believe Christ advocated. It does make me a little ill, sorry. It seems to be more prevalent (or at least vocal) among black Americans, making the tributes harder for me to stomach last night.
If his soul has gone to eternal life in Paradise, why ship his husk around the city for people to talk and sing over? Tacky.
Not written to cause offence, just how I see it.
