Selene was an early adopter of the Blackjack. She's had it three years, giving it hard use all the way. She's lost the back of it and the multifunction charger/data port is pretty much shot, so she's going for a new smartphone. I think she's got her heart set on the iPhone 3GS. She's played with my 3G for awhile now, and I'm pretty happy with it.
All of these smart phones just about kill you as far as monthly charges, though. Having portable data in the palm of your hand is *not* cheap. I pay nearly three times what my kids pay for their unlimited talk minutes, unlimited text and MMS messaging - $45 for them to $125 for me. My phone does lots of stuff theirs don't, but wow. Expensive.
That said, I've used the GPS and mapping function three times in the past two evenings, I use Twitter and Facebook pretty much daily, I've browsed up tons of useful info while out and about via the voice activated Google Search. So, yeah, it's expensive, but at this point I'd feel like I'd lost a limb if I had to be without it.
