Quite right, darlings.
I honestly forgot the title of the thread after seeing "Vindaloo" again. I'm a very English girl, and although I embrace being British and European also, there is a part of me that wants to stand out as being English, in the same way the Welsh and Scots do.
According to American standards I am half-Irish. Which probably makes me a true Brit. But my heart is completely English.
I'd stand shoulder to shoulder against enemies of the British Isles (that's my nod to my Grandad's heritage). The same against enemies of Europe. But to me, home is always England, and specifically Bucks. And there's nothing wrong with that.
Apart from anything else (and germane to this thread) Brits share a common background.
Wemight squabble like siblings, but we still long to hear Forfar four, East Fife five or Ivor the Engine, or the filth of Frankie Boyle, or adore Irvine Welsh.
This is home, despite manmade boundaries.
