The manager says he's told them to share songwriting credits with any other band members, and that's really the key to the whole thing I think. At this time in history, even if a band gets signed, there's still only a one in ten chance that there's any money in it for them. From the experiences of Warch's hubby (s'ok if I mention this hon?), the real money is in residuals and royalties.
On the other hand, I think half a living at music is far better than half a living at anything else.
