I couldn't really skip it. Thing is I never was a good student in HS as I went by the rule of "Don't let school get in the way of your education.".
I worked in IT companies since my Sophmore year, probably far more than I should have. When I came home I never did homework, never opened books; instead I'd either play computer games in online tournaments (Heat.net was awesome. $500 in prizes), read Sci Fi or fantasy or PC books. The grades I got in the classes were 100% based on the things I learned from lectures or already knew. What this comes down to is that going into my senior year I was in the bottom 20% of my class with a GPA of about 2.
So I figured that if I pull up my grades in the first half of senior year and considering my SAT(M:710, V:640(I'm russian..)) score I can easily get into a fairly good college. My half year GPA was over 4.0. I was accepted to Drexel along with a 7k/year scholarship. (Yes Drexel was my top choice despite the fact that it's not the best school in the world due to the coop program).
So thats why I went to senior year. I did have the option of working full time instead of HS since junior year and my boss almost begged me to work full time after I finished HS. Yet my parents who both have PhDs felt that I couldn't do well in life without college, so they forced me into it. Not regretting it now, the .com that begged me to stay went under just a year and a half after I left.
I had a friend who DID skip the last half of his senior year and did go to work for a .com. It went under 3 years after and last I checked he's trying to work part time someplace and go to school part time to get his degree...he also took up some fanatical religion and last time he called me he yapped about "surrendering his life to god" and how I should do the same...I told him to go f himself and his god and haven't heard from him since.
