I agree with you. Look at the shadow of the awning and the awning's poles and see that the light is not directly over the passengers, but the shadows of the animals are directly below them. The lion's raised paw, in particular, is lit from above but there is no shadow of it.
Or maybe this is a re-enactment of that Flintstones episode where Fred had a broken foot so the family had to get a hybrid car!
