I have always pursued the best Logitech gear.
The Logitech driver software is rather full-featured. They let you reprogram all the mouse buttons, including disabling them if you like.
The Performance MX I'm using now has about ten different "control surfaces" that do something! But one could disable most of them, then assign the thumb button to right-click and disable the right click, or even make the right mouse button and left mouse button function as left click.
When I had my recent shoulder problems and couldn't click, I dug out an old Logitech trackball and had both mouse and trackball hooked up at the same time. I used my right hand to move the mouse pointer and my left hand to click.
