They've left the nest. They've flown the coop. They're in the wind. They're on the wing. They. Are. Outtahere. Momdigr watched as the first of the two took off. She said it flew across the neighborhood and out of sight. Apparently, they hatch knowing how to fly. She said there were no false starts. Stretched his wings, hopped up on the edge of the planter, looked around, and was gone. The sibling was gone within an hour, leaving no witnesses to its departure.
I guess, in retrospect, that a hanging plant container 4 feet off the ground was a pretty good place to raise a family after all.
