I think MArk Twain wrote a short story about a man who married an eskimo woman and when they slept together he discovered that she had made her butt look bigger by wearing padded underwear.
He demanded an annulment and returned her dowry ( a pile of fish hooks) but one hook was missing and there was trouble about this (maybe he was killed or banished or whatever) and the girl was miserable and in the spring she found the fish hook had gotten stuck in her padded underwear.
I may be foggy on some details, there was a morality play in there somewhere. IIRC
