Heh...Jack has about 15 acres in the back, but knows exactly where to stop, even in the front and on the sides. He'll come to see who you are when you pull in, but even with strangers just keeps a wary eye until he sees that this person is OK with the family. Like his predecessor, Zeke, he can run loose just fine: he's never going to chase anything or go beyond his boundaries, or bite or growl or be an obnoxious jerk.
But I bet if that family were threatened in any way, Jack would light in as if he'd been fighting all his life.
I must be spoiled, I can't imagine owning any other kind of dog. Yeah, I love my dog nieces/nephews too.
