I hope everyone enjoys their holiday-of-choice celebrations.
I will be off for Christmas Eve, and working Christmas Day.
The holiday has, however, gotten off to quite the interesting start.
My last case of the night involved police bringing in a woman named Mary, who was very, very (9 months and change) pregnant, and also very, very psychotic.
She said she was just trying to make her way home, but encountered the officers on the way, and so they brought her to the nuthouse (where else do you bring a 9+ months pregnant woman named Mary on Christmas Eve?)
So, she refuses to talk to me, but was quite charmed by our evaluating doctor, and was at least marginally agreeable to being evaluated, but not to staying in the hospital.
When she talked to our doctor, she reported that she was having contractions.
After the doctor came back into the office and told me this, I looked up at the security monitor and found myself asking, "Hey, what's that on the floor in room one? That wasn't wet before ... oh SHIT. I think her water just broke!!!"
Our ambulance transported her to the medical hospital. As I pointed out to several people, "I don't know nuthin' 'bout birthin' no babies."
If three wise men show up looking for her, I'm heading for the hills and not coming back.
Thankfully, I do not work in Bethlehem.
