The B-52.
Maiden flight: April 1952
Planned retirement: 2045
Largest aircraft with air-to-air combat kills.
Holds the record for longest distance flown for a combat mission. On Sept. 2, 1996 two B-52Hs took off from Andersen AFB, Guam headed for downtown Baghdad. A round trip of 35 hours and 16,000 miles (non-stop mind you).
Of the original 744 aircraft built, 94 were still in operation as of April 2011.
