Today was the last day of deer and bear hunting season (late bow and muzzleloader) my mentor lent me one of his muzzleloaders, an old TC Renegade. What a nice gun.
Anyhow, it was a somewhat bittersweet end to the season. I only saw a few deer and they were out of range. There is more to the story but I'm saving that for another time.

My mentor tried drving the deer to me today but there were none around, I had to call it a day at noon and hadn't shot anything. Yesterday, someone was shootign at a large doe and at the moment he pulled the trigger a button buck jumped in front of the doe. The round went through the button buck and int the doe. The guy got a twofer!
So they gave me the little buck and I put my tag on it.

I just skinned and butchered it. Tomorrow I'll finish processing the meat. I'm on the fence about what to do with the fat, render it and make soap or make deer tallow candles? I took the little sinew from the hind legs and was unsure of the sinew on the back straps. I think I may have mistaken it for fat or fascia and cut it all up. C'est la viand
