Bassists are the Marines. Tough, dependable, first into a hard situation, happy to do the heavy lifting. A lot of lay people think they are Army, but they are proud not to be.

Drummers are the Navy. Useful and necessary to get you anywhere. Quite specialized. Quirky, prefers to hang with his own sort.

Guitarists are the Army. Out front getting the headlines, but also most likely to be in enemy fire. Endlessly complaining. Blames the equipment. Certain other divisions are unnecessary. Likes to take charge on the ground but just as likely to get tied up running a supply route. Think they could be Marines but secretly know they can't.

Keyboardists are the Air Force. Running a very technical and complex operation, requiring long and difficult training, always getting the most expensive gear. Best if not visible. Trying to replace the rest of the band by pressing a few buttons. Will eventually be replaced with someone remotely pressing a few buttons.

Singers are local cops. Most of the time you cringe when you see them. They're usually self-important and want everything to be about them. A good one, however, is a great asset to the area.
