Last week I saw an item on
Gardening Australia about making a smaller version of this. I'd like to have a crack at making something halfway between the two versions.
This year we also got a top bar hive (after reading about Phil Chandler's "
Barefoot Beekeeping") and are keen to get our first bees into it in a few months once spring arrives. The usual way of beekeeping seemed too complex for me, and too much equipment, especially for extraction. I like the way the Barefoot Beekeeping encourages everyone to do it, with minimal equipment, and we're planning to extract by just breaking up a comb at a time in muslin, so no equipment there either.
