RIP Friend
I was at a meeting thursday and I found out this guy I sort of knew (he'd been around for a loooooong time and I knew his brother in a professional way) died of pancreatic cancer after nearly 20 years of sobriety.
I hadn't even known he was sick. I only saw him now and then and enough to say 'hi, buddy, how ya doing?" He was a sad soul who fought depression with everything he had and was sober when he died.
He was a strange guy in many ways, I don't know exactly what went on with him mentally, but he was the definition of a sweet person. Never wished a mean thought on anybody.
I'm so sad. I didn't even KNOW him for chrissakes, and I feel very, very sad. sometimes I hate going to that club and seeing obits or memory cards tacked up on that bulletin board. After nearly 20 years you get pancreatic cancer????
and another guy I know has it, too. I haven't seen him around but my pals have and they say he looks bad. Ugh. I feel rotten.

"Shall I give you a kiss?" Peter asked and, jerking an acorn button off his coat, solemnly presented it to her.
