Can't believe I haven't posted about the new Doctor Who ep, given it's formed the backdrop to my thoughts pretty much since Saturday.
I'm liking Matt Smith more and more. And the Moff's intricate storytelling is so lovely. Oh, sure there were a few plotholes. Though also a possible plothole explanation for why the Daleks haven't just killed the Doc when face to face with him over the years rather than having to go to extraordinarily lengths to trick or trap him with varyingly disastrous results for the Dalek Empire.
It's a nice line, and twists the blade a little deeper after the Doctor's realisation across the last series of his own impact on others.
I'm liking the mix of dark and light, tragedy and humour and the occasional dairy foods joke.
This season we've been promised (at least for the first half before the break) individual stories, and less focus on the arc, but there are clearly some seeds being planted, and there is a definite continuation of the story from last season.
So yeah. That's all I'm gonna say so as to avoid massive spoilers, til others have caught up, but I'm very pleased.
* talking about the daleks isn't a spoiler, as the episode is entitled: Asylum of the Daleks.
