@ JB: I'm not sure what your definition of a real man is...apparently it all boils down to being strong enough to roundhouse a chick. Not sure why you'd think gay men would be obsessing over nail polish, or somehow less capable than a 'real man' of delivering a killer punch. I've known some gay men that would seriously tilt your understanding of masculine strength.
You have some fucked up notions about men and women, in my opinion. You talk about how there must be love from the man and respect from the woman in the first instance. The only respect a man I do not know has any right to expect from me is the same that any individual, male or female, is due. Beyond that deeper respect must be earned. It should not be awarded by one entire gender to another entire gender, out of fear. A woman should respect a man because he deserves it, because he has earned it, because he is worthy of it. Not because to do otherwise is to invite violence and harm. That is not respect. That is an acceptance of unearned authority.
For a relationship to work both need to love and respect each other, in equal measure, with neither aspect taking precedence in either one. Love without respect is worthless, and respect without love is cold.
