We had a pretty good weekend. For the 4th, we had some BBQ and chat with one of my workmates during the afternoon, then went to my brother and sister in law's place for more of the same, plus watching fireworks across 270 degrees of horizon where we could see four major displays going on, and countless smaller ones. At one point, someone a couple of miles away did a mass launch of Chinese lanterns. They rose in a languorous train, spreading out and slowly separating as they flew right over our location. There were at least 13 of them, and while most burned out before they got to us, at least three were still glowing brightly and climbing as they disappeared from our view behind the roof. We were on the motorcycle, and the ride home was actually *brisk*, to the point where I'd wished I'd brought a hoodie or something. Coolest and most perfect weather I can recall for an Independence Day here in Missouri.
Last night, TF and I went to see The English Beat, an early 80's ska band. Great show, and some familiar tunes. Saw some old friends there, met a couple of new ones, and generally had a wonderful time. Today finds me simply relaxing, doing some chores around the, setting up my long desired NAS drive to serve all of our media, and having a couple of cold ones.
