I've seen/read some interesting stuff about the relability (or lack thereof) of eye witness accounts. Even without all the other aspects we may misremember or even unwittingly fabricate. just purely our ability to identify perpetrators is shockingly low for most people. Aside from people we know very well, most people are really quite bad at facial recognition.
