Someone pointed out in a "how the real world would wreck your favorite sequels" post on another site that the movement of the San Andreas Fault means that when Marty McFly comes back from the 1800s, the other side of that train track would be something like 400 feet down the canyon...fault tectonics are SCARY if you pay too much attention! Seriously, quake maps of LA, Puget Sound, and Oklahoma are getting scarier and scarier. A few years back someone noticed a several-mile-long fault line, deeper than previous equipment could sound out, directly under one of the BIG arterials in Hollywood/Beverly Hills-ish. Don't remember which road, just that it's one of the ones with $$$$$$$$$ shops lining the endangered section.
