True. I think that must be a universal law of electric kettles. I have had expensive (relatively) and/or trusted brands, quirky, nice designs, and cheap as chips from a low-end supermarket or discount store.
Some of the cheap ones I had for a couple of years - some of the pricier ones died in 12 months.
I just buy the cheap ones now.
