But what bugs me is more fundamental than that. I prefer "self-contained" games. I just made that term up, but what I mean is, all the information you need to play is in the game itself. Of course games like that tend to be number games--Rummikub, Racko, etc. If I'm playing Scrabble, whether I know words like "zoon" has a direct impact on how well I do. Of course if I felt like it I could study up on good Scrabble words. That might increase my score, but it wouldn't increase my enjoyment of the game.
