African, sometimes called Gambian, Pouched Rats are huge. Their head and body is 10–17.5 inches (25–45 cm) long,
with tails 14–18 inches (36–46 cm) long, and weigh between 2.2 and 3.3 lb (1.0 and 1.5 kg).
