All allies do that. So America's best allies (ie Japan, Britain, Jordan, Australia, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Israel) have started looking elsewhere. With The Don cozying up to Putin, Xi, and Kim; with America backstabbing the Kurds in less than 24 hours, then all those nations and others must reconsider safer options.
When Abe complained about N Korea's unrestricted missile tests that the US all but approved, Trump basically replied the protection of Japanese cities is no longer our concern. Another example of backstabbing an ally.
A major source of American power was once the so many countries that supported and helped America because America was once a trusted ally. No longer in part because so many people even here have contempt for our allies - and what once made America great. A Don will backstab anyone who does not enchant his ego.
