Reminds me of a war-era cookbook that my grandmother gave me in 1982.

It has some commentary in the opening pages about the war and rationing. Grandma made notations throughout, and she wrote a few of her own recipes on the interior cover pages. I refer to it all the time, as it rarely lists oddball or hard-to-find ingredients - it's full of simple, hearty recipes for a limited pantry.

It also has a lot of quaint vintage color and black and white pictures of table settings for different types of gatherings - formal dinners, family lunchtime, buffets, etc. Just LOVE this book.

I guess other people do too. (Check that price! And this one - damn!)
