A poem for my sister-in-law's 50th - by Mum

Mum wrote this for Jen's 50th birthday - it's acommpanied by a drawing mum did of Jen when she first met her.

As a bit of background, before Martin brought Jen home , Mum had dreamed she had met his future wife - she described her to us and as it happened Martin had just got involved with Jen (he had known her tangentially for a few months I think but hadn't talked about her) - Mum's description fitted Jen to a tee.

a dream -

there she was a beautiful girl with black hair

playing with the dogs our lovely pair

.........................

and then later you were really there

the beautiful girl with black hair

bringing laughter and fun while holding the heart of my son

and so your new adventure was begun

just eighteen and full of life

three years later becoming a wife

what a joyous time exciting and fun

then it turned magical, as you became a mum

and I felt so honoured that you let me share

the arrival of our two beautiful girls with the black hair

you were an amazing mum and wife right from the start

loving your girls and man with your big heart

you've loved and nourished your family all down the years

comforting and supporting during any of their fears

with a successful career you worked very hard to get

going from strength to strength and you've not finished yet

the loveliest of mums and such a loving wife

you've done a damn fine job so far in your life

I'm full of love and admiration for all that you have done

and still down all the years you've kept your laughter and your fun

so I wish you all the happiness as the second half is begun

with massive birthday wishes now your 50th has come

Loads of love Jen
