I disagree. The press has moved with the times, and whilst they might still be parsimonious with exclamation points in their own articles, it would be bad form to edit them out of a letter to the editor where they were clearly used to excess deliberately for emphasis.

Also, the blacking is, I believe, over the postcode. This could have changed since I left, but it used to be that the first part of the postcode was printed for contributors from London because it is so big.
