Years ago Momdigr had been to the grocery and couldn't find the gallon of milk she knew she'd just bought. At the time Mom & Popdigr's primary vehicle was an Isuzu Trooper II. The passenger compartment was roomy as hell, quite large. The back seat had about a foot of space on each outboard side of the seat. Time went by, and then the odor began. We finally found that the gallon of milk had slid off the seat, into the space between the 'wall' and the rear seat, aft of the door itself. It spoiled, of course, and the plastic jug split open, leaking milk into the carpet. For years after, when it would get particularly hot, we would get that sour milk odor. No amount of cleaning/steaming/vacuuming would get rid of that smell. I'll never forget it, as long as I live.
