I could see myself there as well. I took French at the US Defense Language Institute (Presidio of Monterey, CA), spent time backpacking through the Normandy region (not exactly tourist class), got a birds eye view of the countryside from under canopy (awarded the French military parachutist badge), and I appreciate their wines (I'm still drinking '82 Chateau Margaux that I bought on release in the mid '80s in addition to various great '89 & '90 Bordeaux classified growths.) While I was there, several French households received me warmly. On an individual basis, they don't forget their allies. I certainly wouldn't mind pedaling my vintage Raleigh Competition out to the airfield/drop zone on weekends. Yes, despite the difference in ideologies, I could live with that.
