I had a feeling this would be the reaction even as I posted the inquiry. Oh well, no biggie.
FTR, on a site like Twitter, the "heart" button is really useful. If someone likes your tweet, they can click or tap the heart button, and person who posted the tweet gets a notification, both by email (if chosen), and via Twitter's "Notifications" page...no actual reply necessary. The heart button also shows how many likes a tweet gets.
