Cormac McCarthy is a beautiful and terrible writer. I struggled to put a label on Judge Holden. His character disturbed my sleep. He collected and described the natural world while destroying all. He was trying to lead the kid to something, which in turn leads the reader around by the nose.

Great book but a soul tester.






*opinion spoiler* Was he a god of war or death? A trickster maybe? My brother helped assemble the pieces for me. He is cultural inheritance. That is maybe more disturbing as he is our cultural inheritance.
