And it never woulda been a hit single... and win a Grammy for Record of the Year... if Clint Eastwood hadn't put it in "Play Misty For Me", 3 years after it had been released.
But the rest of the story is... the record company offered to re-record it at a faster pace for the movie. Clint Eastwood said, no, that slow tempo is what I want.
Can you imagine this being a hit single today. No you cannot. In 1972 it was #1 for six weeks.
