12/7/2005: Sheep protest in Madrid
![]() Yesterday we had a protestor dressed as an animal, now here are actual animals used in protest. In this case, sent along by xoB from the Wash. Post Day in Photos, these sheep were herded through the middle of Madrid in an annual protest of the destruction of Spain's "ancient routes for leading livestock to the pasture". So the official caption says. If it's an annual protest, doesn't that really tell you that the protest has been ineffective? Or -- has it been effective, and they've kept protesting in case the lack of protest is what made the routes negligible in the first place? In any case, it's fun to see the flock marching down the middle of the street. I imagine the smell might put you off your burger though. And who's responsible for clean-up...? |
