SHUTOUT!!!!!!!!!
yes, I know, ..........but this time it was Thor! His first! OK, they were playing the girls and he got really lucky, but ya know, he still stopped 4 and now he has a shutout under his belt he can feel like a real goalie. And he was the first of the two team goalies to get one. Which is confidence boosting, and that's what he needs.

Lil Pete just heard back from her #2 school, as they are on rolling admissions, she's in in if she wants them. As a Dad, I'm more excited by her 56K over 4 years academic scholarship offer putting her school costs ballpark with a certain blue and white state school.

That wasn't my clearest writing. She is applying to colleges and just heard back from her first. They are offering her $14,000 a year in academic scholarships to go there. This puts the price tag of this private college on about equal footing as our state's largest public institution. This school is presently her 2nd favorite, but we won't hear from #s 1 and 3 for a long time due to differing admissions processes.

Excellent for her. My daughter was in what sounds like a similar situation. She went to the private school. Bonus for Dad - Its about 15 minutes from home.

Thanks Classic. I'd been told/read that it could work out this way. My Sis-in-Law has been railing against private colleges. Its nice to know she got it wrong even if I'll never say a word.

Hooray for scholarships! The private colleges I applied to offered me 1.) no scholarship whatsoever, and 2.) a whopping $500 per year. My dad just laughed and laughed as he shuffled me off to the state university (which, in their kindness, did give me a completely free ride, so there was that consolation.)

Thor got the MVP award for his team in this week's tournament. So proud (and surprised but pleased and grateful). I almost cried. He's not a major goal-scorer, he's not better than the other goalie, but he does try so hard and he's improved no end in the last few weeks so it's lovely -and very confirming for him- to have this acknowledged so publicly.

Good for Thor! That's quite an honor. That's what sportsmanship is, trying your best and working hard.
