Never heard that one before. Sounds like the least of a smoker's problems.

I now notice when co-workers return from a smoke break. They should make smokers sit in a breathing room for 15 minutes before returning to the job.

Hmmm..

I can't speak for the others, but I WILL speak for myself.....

People like LJ, Jinx, Beestie, UT, and Dagney have:
a) No grounding in medicine or biology

I have a degree in Biochemistry with an emphasis in psychological drug research. I will be more than happy to provide proof of my education if you require it.

b) can't think outside the box

I think outside the box for a living. I design and manage the building of software systems. That involves a lot of out of the box thinking.

c) indulge in black and white thinking - either a person is a moron or they're just fine

Yep, people are either morons, or they're not. I'll let you figure that one out.

d) have some vested interest in being "Better" than others

I don't think I'm better than other people....somethings, you just inherently KNOW.

e) lack imagination and/or empathy

I am more imaginative or empathic than you will ever know or understand. I just have a very low tolerance for bovine excrement, stupidity, or arrogance.

I smoke pipes and cigars... I have to agree with you... I hate the smell of cigarettes. Plus, I worked at a distillery that added nicotine to alcohol for major cig companies among other things... I know what goes into those things. They are deadly.
It is not the same as smoking natural tobacco as a hobby and/or as an occasional enjoyment thing.

I am a fucking scammer too. Back in 2000, some anonymous people bought stock from me for $160/share and within a year it dropped to $1.65. 10,000 shares is a lot of money.

The trouble with Mari is that she's not stealing big enough like these legitimate white collar scams you and I have going on.
the 'blood on my hands' comment was made with humorous intent.

and don't you call me a scammer, ya cocksmoker. how is it that someone who works in my field is automatically a scammer?

I sell risk management products to willing customers that come into our place of business and make informed choices about what they opt to purchase. I fully and legally disclose the availability of several different optional warranties and insurances. I offer honest advice, and frequently discount these products in the interest of maintaining customer loyalty and enhanced ownership experience.

I don't lie, cheat or steal. I don't misrepresent, confuse or bedazzle. I'm not a con man or a sheister. i'm fucking honest and proud of it. always have been. you can eat my asshole with a spoon.

if you knew the stock you were selling was worthless, then shame on you. dont lump me in, though. i resent it.

and another thing!

i work 12 to 16 hours a day, and commute 2.5 hours on average on top of that. if i was a chronic dope smoker, i'd need 30 hour days.

I believe you when you say you work honestly. And, I thought your "blood on my hands" comment was hysterical when I read it. I was trying to say that it's easy to bash any of us, including you and me. We all live in glass houses, especially when we don't have the whole story all neat and in one place.
