I never got hit with a coathanger, but pretty much all the others, plus the razor strop and the jug cord.

flyswatter, coat, bamboo stick, whatever was around.

I know this is a huge generalization, but I feel that as long as a child knows that a parent loves them and does what they can out of love, a lot of mistakes can be forgiven when they grow up and mature.
