Yesterday, I went with my son to a Catholic church for an adult confirmation service. He is 24 and decided he would get confirmed in the church, something his mother (my ex) really wanted him to do. I'm not a Catholic anymore and have only been in a church a couple of times in the past 30 years or so, mostly for weddings or funerals. We were never hard core church goers when the kids came along. We did the baptism thing and the first communion thing as our parents expected it but we hardly ever went to church. Now my ex is a big time Catholic and goes to daily mass and volunteers at her church. Funny thing is that of our 5 kids only this son and one other practice Catholocism to some extent. My daughters don't and one son is a big time Protestant to the point of believing in the literal interpretation of the bible and creationism and stuff like that. I think the Naval Academy did that to him.
It was a big deal, the Cardinal was there and about 10 other priests, a choir, an organist and a horn section. There were 150 adults getting it done. I sat through the first part up in till the actual ceremony and then took some pictures and a video of him for his mother. After that they went back into mass mode and had the incense and everything and communion and lots of kneeling and singing so I went outside and sat in a garden with statues of Jesus and Mary all around. I read a book on my tablet that I have been trying to finish. It was real peaceful. After awhile it was over and we went home. Even though his church is not my thing I was proud of him because he took the time to do something he wanted to do, studied for it, etc. I felt I should be there for him.

I think the monkeys at the zoo should have to wear sunglasses so they can't hypnotize you.
