Many pistols have a magazine disconnect which renders them inoperable if the magazine is even partially out.

I have been handling firearms since I was a small child, and have never figured out how to clean a loaded gun.

There's a bullet hole in some crown molding in the dining room of the house where my mother grew up. My grandfather told me he asked the guy who was cleaning his rifle before their hunting trip if it was unloaded and he was assured it was. Awkward.

Imagine going over to someone else's house and putting a bullet in their ceiling.
