July 17, 2008: Recycled

Quote:
Cassette tapes are near extinction, considering CDs, DVDs, Blue Ray and other innovative disk coming along. And the following skeleton is one wacky creation for this statement. The creation belongs to Brian Dettmer, I guy famous for altering common media such as old books, maps, record albums, and cassette tapes and transforming them into works of art. The following skeleton is currently on display at the International Museum of Surgical Science.

I think I have enough cassettes to replicate the Terra Cotta Army.

This skeleton represents clear evolutionary progress from Vinyl Man to 8 Track Man to Cassette Man.

Ahh but you are missing some of the missing link creatures like teh 45, Digital Audio Tape, or the most elusive, the Pocket Rocker.

The artist certainly made no bones about that skeleton.

True. There are some gaps in the evolutionary record. But even if we could rewind the track of time, I think we'd see some skipping around, as different creations got their groove on then dropped out. The one pictured here rolled past Capistan before it stopped here. Of course we're missing the high notes. I could wax cylindrically, but I'll pause for now.

haHA, turned the tables on you, didn't I?
