I'll try not to go too crazy with the photos. But this is just too much. I just have to share it! I got to go see the sweetheart yesterday...She went outside for the second time ever, was scared of it all, and took to hiding by my husbands legs. I think my husband found a little friend.:p

It's funny that out of all the people around, and never really being around my husband, the puppy went right to my husband to hide when she was scared, not the current owner, or the other strangers around. She stuck by us. Huh? How does that little puppy know who to go to already? Well I guess we know who she favors, it's a good thing we're the ones taking her home someday!:p

Maybe your hubby's body language communicates an alpha male status. She may believe him most capable of protecting her. Or, was he the one that stayed most still, or had the slowest movements? that usually reassures an anxious pup.

She's absolutely frikkin gorgeous btw.

That's a super-cute picture, Cic.
If that were mine I'd definitely frame it.

Time to address the dog/ cat balance.
Popped into work last night to pick something up and the Diz cat followed me.
As he was being pretty talky I decided to film it.
As usual, nothing much happens - it's just me an' ma boy

Hehe. Taken with my Minolta 35mm film, using really good Ilford B&W film.

She's a sweetie, yeah. Ornery as hell.
But I'd never give her up.

Oh they're lovely Steve! Really bonny birds.

FStop, that's a very beautiful dog! She has bags of presence on camera.

Never give your dogs cooked bones.

The steak bone Pearl ate is quite visible in the upper middle here.

The good news is that Pearl has entirely digested it.

The bad news is that the heart murmur they found in the process of checking her, means she's a heart patient for the rest of her life. It's level 3 - out of 6, I think - and they say this is what'll probably get her, in the end. They say it'll take 2-3 years, cutting her life expectancy in half. Meanwhile she is now on blood pressure medication.

Look at the size of the alsatian's paws lol. I love alsations.

I had to play judge in a community dog show the other weekend. There was the most adorable alsatian, called Maverick. The final prize (After Dog with Waggiest Tail, Nicest Eyes, Best handler etc) was Dog the Judge Would Most Like to Take Home.

Maverick got that prize:P
My German Shepherd Dog - that's what the folks over on this side of the pond call Alsatians, of course - is also named Maverick!!! We didn't name him, previous owners did. He came to us when he was four, and he'd had a tough life. I think he'd been abused as he was afraid of me (not DH - probably a woman was mean to him) and he just cowered around a lot, was scared to come inside. He's been with us for two years and WOW has he come a long way! He's a total sweetheart.

The black dog, who is some kind of black lab mix, is Rocky. He's a great dog too, not too bright, but very nice. If I could just get him to stop licking, licking, licking!!!! (sigh) Dog can't hold his licker.

We also have five cats and four chickens. WAY too many animals at this place.

Congrats Cicero! Widdle puppeh looks so adorable!

And I'm so sorry, gtown. Hershey looks a lot like one of my kitties.

Glad to hear she digested the bone... I didn't know about the cooked bone thing.

Sorry about the news about her heart. Not evenly remotely the same, but my cat Bunyip lived for 15 years with a congenital kidney defect.

I believe they can actually digest raw bones, if their teeth are in good enough condition to reduce them. Still somewhat dangerous though.

(Same goes for cats of course)

My cats eat canned tuna, salmon, and chicken. The only bones they get are in the salmon, which is cooked, but they're mushy enough even for people.
Oh, sometimes sardines too...
