Where's the automotive thread?

I had to take the car in for a check engine light (small evap leak in the filler pipe) and while I was waiting for my ride I strolled in to look at the new Hyundai Elantra Wagon. Jeez, a lot of car for 18,000 MSRP.

I felt bad for the salesman who was doing all his salesman stuff on me trying to get me into the car for a test drive, etc. giving me his card and what not. If he knew my financial situation he wouldn't have even lifted his head up to look at me.

There is a perceptible undercurrent of panic and anxiety in these guys who are either not very good liars or just don't care that you know they are lying. I will see if $ improve by the end of summer and then I may consider a wagon or SUV. The wagons are 4 cylinder and they told me a bunch of crap about how they are as 'nadsy as a 6 because of special gearing, etc. I will trade the gas mileage for the ability to stomp oni t and shoot past the cotton-tops who dawdle around here. The passing lanes are about 100 feet long around here, you really need to move it.

Anyway, the ride is ok for now, paid for and not very rusty yet.

That has been a very dependable car, knock on wood. 150k miles and all it's needed have been tires, oil, plugs, brakes.
