Dude. GnR were the antithesis of 80's cheese - and November Rain came out in '91. Gah.

Yeah, the only thing cheesier than November Rain is I Remember You, which came out in laaate '89 or earlt '90, and is a MUCH better song anyway. It can be 80's cheese without being really FROM the 80's.

My brother went through a Who period. I feel your pain.

Cut, Cut, Cut - Paul Gilbert

I highly recommend downloading his albums Alligator Farm and Burning Organ. Perfect blend of pop, punk, shred, hair metal, and weird al. Great, witty lyrics, great pop hooks interspersed with amazing shred solos and even a couple classical pieces ("Whole Lotta Sonata", a Mozart Piano Sonata on guitar, for example).

Alright lookout, you're obviously still drunk. You're going to look at
the era of Poison, Cinderella, Whitesnake et al, and point to GnR as cheesy?

Yes. Guns and Roses was pure cheese, except slash and duff. Whitesnake had Vai and Coverdale and some DAMN good songs (Here I Go Again, Kitten's Got Claws), Poison was mediocre but not too cheesy, and cinderella was... well, bad, but still not all THAT cheesy. Twisted Sister, on the other hand, WAS cheesy, but good, like Craker Barrel Extra Sharp. Guns and Roses is more like... month-old moldy Gruyere. Sweet Child of Mine, Paradise City, Rocket Queen, and Welcome To The Jungle are good, but come on... Patience? One In A Million? November Rain? Velveeeeta.

I'm sorry Ibram, you lost me at "Whitesnake had.. some damn good songs".
We're done here.... there is no common ground.

A '60s compilation CD. Some fun stuff, like:

Proud Mary (Ike and Tina version)
Danke Schoen
Hawaii 5-0 theme song
Runaway (Del Shannon)

And no Who, thank god.

Mmmmm, I think I like the Ike and Tina Proud Mary better than the CCR version.
