Carrot has *one* grooming tool. Do you see all that hair? Do you still feel it's "unfeasible"? Too *small* perhaps?

But he has Mama to do most of that for him, right?
He's irresistible. I just want to cuddle up with him!

And then you'd soon learn the secondary purpose of all that tongue.

He is very handsome.

I think Henri reminds me of the border collie that carries the cowboy monkey at the rodeos except that he is probably thinking, " what the %$%% is on my back? "
Poor Henri maybe the heatable puppy coat was not such a good idea!

We don't care what Henri likes, he's got to pay for his room and board, and has no other means but entertaining the people that can open doors and cans.

Oh, oh I love the pic of Annie and King. What a lovely pair of dogs. The look of patience on the older dog's face is gorgeous.

And, 'vana, Henri is adorable.

Poodle-cats????

Not my pet, but, if I ever run across one of these Selkirk Rex kittehs...............I'm stealing it, if'n it's black.

Quote:
In 1987, a mutant kitten was born in Montana with hair like a poodle. Named Miss DePesto, this kitten grew up and birthed curly kittens of her own. As the curly cat family tree grew, Miss DePesto's descendants eventually became recognized as a new breed: the Selkirk Rex.

Now, 25 years and about nine kitty generations later, researchers at the University of Veterinary Medicine, Austria, have confirmed that these felines are genetically distinct from previously known breeds, making Selkirk Rex the fourth curly-haired cat breed known.

The genetic quirk that makes a Selkirk Rex's hair kink is a dominant trait. This makes the trait easy for breeders to retain even while crossing breeding to maintain genetic diversity. Selkirk Rex is usually crossed with Persians or British Shorthairs, making it a particularly laid back cat.

And while the Selkirk Rex is one of four curly-haired cat breeds, it easily has the best hair. Devon Rex and Cornish Rex are breeds with curly, downy, super-short hair, prone to balding, while the unimaginatively named LaPerm breed has curly hair of average length hair -- but not nearly as plush and thick as Selkirk Rex. Miss DePesto would be proud.

Wow. Looks like a blanket. I love it.

I was curious as to their temperament, and found this:

Quote:
Personality
The temperament of the Selkirk Rex reflects that of the breeds used in its development: a purebred Persian and a non-pedigreed, short-haired, mixed-breed housecat that probably derived in part from American, British and/or Exotic Shorthairs. Selkirks are incredibly loving, patient and kind. These are important traits for these cats, because their unusual teddy-bear appearance makes them intriguing and practically irresistible to all who meet them. They have many of the laid-back, gentle qualities of the American and British Shorthair. They also carry the cuddly nature of the Persian and the playfulness of the Exotic Shorthair. They are tolerant of children and other pets and make affectionate, affable companions.

Sounds awesome! But I'm a pound cat girl...there are too many cats who need good homes: I can't imagine 'buying' a cat. Still...those are great.
