You need more, even instruments that practice themselves while you play video games.

If you ever got that strap wrench, that should unstick the mouthpiece too. Just strap across the thickest part of the mouthpiece and turn.

If not, that's a cheap (maybe free) job at the music shop - they probably keep a specialized mouthpiece puller sitting under the counter even.

NO! Gripping the mouthpiece and turning it is the best way to twist the mouthpipe and/or rip the stays off the mouthpipe. The mouthpiece is a fine, solid bit of metal, the mouthpipe is bending soft twistable brass-type-alloy. PLEASE only pull the mouthpiece STRAIGHT OUT.
(Oh, and welcome, HitTheLake!)

Couldn't shift it, neither could the band director with her special gadget But she says it can damn well stay there until he turns it in in the summer then we'll only have to pay one removal fee

thanks all. We did get a strap wrench thing, but we didn't want to twist it

I feel the band director's pain. One of our wee trumpeters also has a mouthpiece stuck so fast in her trumpet the gadget wouldn't remove it. We has a Very Big Disappoint.

Yeah, it's a bummer alright. Not sure how he does it, but I think leaving it there is not wholly a bad plan now it's there...

Take a Heat Gun and gently heat up the bit where the mouthpiece goes. To prevent this from happening put some Vaseline on the mouthpiece where it goes into the tuba.
Limey am I rite?

We didn't the nicer gentler icepack and hairdryer already.... flame thrower and liquid nitrogen in the summer ...or maybe I'll enlist the help of his orthodontist.
