I like the first one. It has a sort of hippie je ne sa quois about it - as if Jack Kerouac drank straight rum from it.

Go with the good ol aluminum GI issue-looking ones, with the canvas pouch, keep the pouch wet. As the water evaporates from the canvas, it cools the water. Some.

I can recommend Kensington Place.
It's changed hands since I last visited (maybe even more than once) and is now primarily a fish restaurant. But KP's unfussy brasserie style still puts me in mind of a canteen.

And it has weird acoustics which mean you can't hear the person you are dining with, but you get the whole golf story word for word from the bore on the other side of the room. As in any good canteen.
