I keep forgetting that you folks don't get winter like we do, and don't think it's as warm as we do. It's 17F rite now.

Good job! When you run into that murky foggy stuff like Elk Knob, where the vistas are obliterated, it just means focusing on the close up things you can see. You did a great job of capturing the rotting trees and mossy rocks.

Thanks! I actually think those may have been phone photos.

Phone or not, I think they are fascinating. More than just seeing it I can almost feel and smell the wood, moss, and fog.

Nothing much to say about these all. I just liked them. The burned wood one was a little more white than expected. It happened a lot through out the hike. It usually added another level to the photos. Some of them, it made them seem to be overexposed.

Going through some from yesterday now. Hopefully I'll have them up soon.

Excellent, lots of mood, lots of feeling, of intimacy.
Are you sure the extra white isn't bird poop?

Nope - it was in the air. I think it was the sun breaking through. Thanks for the compliments!

I LOVE seeing the root coming up out of the trail. I always figured I was the only one who liked them. I think the pics have gotten better since I started taking them at a lower angle. There's one in the next batch that I really like, too

The exposed roots are a conflict for me.
I always felt guilty about thinking they looked cool while being lectured by elders and rangers about humans causing erosion damaging the landscape .

Well, roots actually prevent erosion. Plus, if the trail gets too old or damaged, they close it off and make a new one. I saw a couple areas like this that were roped off where they were regrowing the landscape and there was a new trail - complete with exposed roots. The rangers will more likely bitch at you for going OFF trail than walking over the exposed roots.
