Yay me!

Today I passed my Basic 6 Figure Skating Test.

Here's my badge:

(they don't normally bother giving them to the adults, but I'm a big kid. I took it to the kids' school for show and tell at the office....

Sorry cloud, but what looks hard? For me it was the inside three-turns that took forever. For most it is the spirals and lunges, but they are a doddle for me -I had them sorted when I was still struggling with backwards one foot glides on Basic 3/4.

Dunno who this is, it'a not me, but I actually have a better spiral than this. But she looks less scared than me, so I bet she rocks at everything else. I'm an advanced beginner.

Ignore the jump -the very first turn on this clip -forwards to backwards- is what I had trouble with (again, it isn't me)

I thnk most of my problems are cause by being ambidextrous. In skating, for each move there is usually one side/turn you are better at. These should be consistent -lefties do it this way, righties do it that...... I just can't make up my mind!

Well they're a big deal for a beginner. But yes. I certainly appreciate the pros a lot more now. I also criticise them a lot more too

(still get bored if they haven't fallen or done something spectacular in the first 30 seconds, though -I want to do it, not watch it.....)

Congrats, monster. I suck at ice skating, so I'm really impressed!

Thanks all. When I started taking classes six years ago, I couldn't stop or go backwards. I'm still not too hot on the stopping from speed. Which is another of my problems -like riding a bike, the speed gives you balance for the moves, but I'm scared to go too fast in case I can't stop. So I go too slow and wobble off my edges. So to speak.
